International Student Tuition & Fees
International students studying under F-1 student visas are required by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to show a minimum financial ability during the admissions process in order to qualify for the issuance of a Form I-20 from the US institution. International Academic Scholarships
International undergraduate students who are first-year freshman or transferring to Ashland University from another school may be eligible to receive a renewable, merit-based scholarship if they meet certain qualifying cumulative grade point averages. Students must be pursuing their first bachelor's degree, enrolled full-time, and charged the AU comprehensive tuition rate.

Unfortunately, we cannot waive the application fee.
Yes, an enrollment deposit of $1,000 USD is required prior to issuing a Form I-20. The deposit goes towards your tuition and is only refundable if your visa is denied and you submit proof of your visa appointment confirmation and visa denial prior to the start of classes.
After all required documents have been submitted, it takes at least 10 business days for an admission decision to be made.

We do not require transcript evaluations or official documents but have the right to request them for any student at any time.

Form I-20 will be transferred after being released from your current school.
Certain programs have specific start terms. For example, our M. Ed. programs and undergraduate students with qualifying English scores are not able to start in summer terms. Contact us if you have a question about when your program begins.
We also suggest checking the visa wait times to know which session to apply to.
Yes, you can defer your admission to a later term by completing the deferral form on your application portal and submitting:
- $50 non-refundable deferral fee
- Updated proof of financial support document(s) dated within the last three months
- Enrollment deposit if you have not previously submitted it
Financial Aid FAQs
- Undergraduate students - We offer undergraduate academic scholarships for students with qualifying grade point averages. There is no additional application for this scholarship.
- Graduate and doctoral students - Due to the lower cost per credit hour, we do not provide financial assistance or scholarships to our graduate students. Students are able to work on campus to help offset some of the costs.
- Athletic - Determined and offered by the coach. You can complete a recruitment form to contact the athletic staff.
- We do not offer full-tuition scholarships.
International students are not eligible for US federal or state financial aid.
Yes, international students can legally work up to 20 hours per week in an on-campus position. Please note that graduate assistantships are available for graduate students.

During the Fall 2022 Semester, Ashland University had 174 international students from 32 countries.
We offer two in-person graduate-level STEM programs: M.S. in Business Analytics and M.S. in Supply Chain Management.
Our MBA program has one STEM Specialization in Management Science.

Yes. Your spouse and unmarried children under the age of 18 may join you in the US as F-2 dependents. Please provide copies of your dependent passport(s) to be added to your application.
Additional financial support is required for dependents. You must show an additional $5,000 for a spouse and an additional $2,500 per child.
